Harold D. Hamilton, 79, of Sullivan, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Thursday (April 26, 2012) in Mason Point, Sullivan.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Sullivan First Christian Church with Rev. Rebecca Ingram officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Sullivan First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound, with military rites conducted by the Sullivan American Legion Post # 68. Harold was born June 16, 1932 in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Evard and Dora Hopkins Hamilton. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Harold earned a MBA at the University of Illinois. Harold had worked for IBM in Chicago, the Alexander Grant and Company in Chicago, had served as Assistant Vice President and Director of Data Processing for Millikin National Bank in Decatur, Regional Marketing Manager for Americana Healthcare Corp, Division Director of Marketing for Manor Healthcare Corp, Executive Vice President and Administrator for the Fields Wright Medical Center in Sullivan. Harold had also developed and operated a gourmet restaurant. He had been a member of the Sullivan Rotary Club, Data Processing Management Association, past chairman of the Sullivan Planning Commission, past president of the Sullivan Little Theatre on the Square, Inc. had also served as their treasurer, former executive member of the Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce and had served as a member of data processing curricula committees for numerous colleges. His hobbies were reading, model railroading and Bible and history study. He married Ann Bliler on October 25, 1969 in Blue Mound and she survives in Sullivan.
Also surviving are his sister, Nadine Blocker of Oak Lawn, IL; brothers, Donald (Shirley) Hamilton of Dallas, TX, Leonard Hamilton of New Mexico; sister in law, Sue Hale (Steve Moregret) and Kay (Don) Nunn all of Decatur and several nieces and nephews and a special nephew and care giver, Casey Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Duane A. Hamilton; mother in law and father in law, Roy and Elsie Bliler; sister, Daisy Watson and brother in law, Tom Hale.
