Jack E. Foster, 88, of Bethany, died 5:20 a.m. Thursday (August 15, 2013) in Mason Point, Sullivan.

Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Marge Overlot officiating. Burial will be in the Marrowbone Twp. Cemetery, Bethany. Firefighter rites will be accorded by the Okaw Firefighters Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Bethany Fire and Ambulance Service. Condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Mr. Foster was born July 9, 1925 in Bethany, the son of George and Marjorie Lowe Foster. Jack formerly was the Bethany Postmaster and later was the regional manager and salesman for Hoblit Seed Corn Company. Jack was one of the founders of the Bethany Ambulance Service, a member and EMT with the Bethany Fire and Ambulance Service, a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men’s Group. Jack loved bowling and was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Jack married Myrtle Ozier on October 4, 1987 in Bethany and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2008.

Surviving are his nephews, Gary (Shelli) Foster of Bethany, Gregg Foster of Sullivan; nieces, Cheryl Thomas and Diane (Jim) Waggoner, both of Sullivan; three stepchildren; his step-grandchildren, Susan (Tom) Zielke of Champaign, Sheryl (Paul) Austin of Mt. Zion, Phillip (Lisa) Ozier, Jr. of Bethany, Samantha (Buck West) Voegel of Lovington, Trish Smith of Lexington, IL, Jonathan Book of Bethany; two step-great-grandchildren; eight great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, sister-in-law and a stepson.
